OVER THE LAST CENTURY, OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE COMPLEXITY OF HUMAN GENOME, ALONG WITH THE IDENTIFICATION OF TOOLS LIKE CRISPR WHICH ALLOW US TO PRECISELY EDIT GENES, HAS COMPLETELY REVOLUTIONIZE THE FIELD OF BIOMEDICINE. THROUGH DISCUSSION OF LANDMARK HISTORICAL STUDIES ALONGSIDE CUTTING-EDGE RESEARCH HAPPENING TODAY, WE WILL CONNECT THE DISCOVERIES THAT SHAPED THE FIELD OF BIOLOGY INTO WHAT IT I TODAY, ALONG WITH THE UNDERAPPRECIA STORIES OF THE SCIENTISTS WHO MADE WORK POSSIBLE.

Supervised readings and group discussion. Prerequisite: minimum grade of 2.0 in either BIOL 350, BIOL 354, BIOL 355, BIOL 356, BIOC 405, BIOC 406, BIOC 440, BIOC 441, or BIOC 442.
