The Department of Biology welcomed community members, families, students, and science enthusiasts back to the Life Sciences Building for our 2026 Biology Open House this past spring. The event once again transformed the building into a hub of discovery, offering visitors an opportunity to explore the exciting research and teaching taking place across the department.
Guests of all ages enjoyed hands-on activities, demonstrations, and exhibits hosted by Biology laboratories and programs. From plants, pollinators, and ecosystems to animal behavior, conservation, genetics, and cellular biology, attendees experienced the incredible breadth of scientific research happening within UW Biology.
Events like Open House provide a valuable opportunity to connect with our community, share our passion for science, and inspire the next generation of biologists. We were thrilled to see so many curious minds engaging with our faculty, staff, students, postdoctoral researchers, and volunteers throughout the day.
A special thank you goes to the Biology Outreach Committee for their outstanding work coordinating the event and helping spread the word throughout the community. Their dedication and enthusiasm were instrumental in making this year's Open House such a success.
We are also grateful to all of the faculty members, undergraduate and graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, staff, Greenhouse team members, and community volunteers who contributed their time and expertise to create a welcoming and engaging experience for our visitors.
Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we look forward to welcoming the community back for another day of science and discovery next year! Subscribe to our newsletter and follow us on our socials for this date when it is announced!
