Greetings from the Greenhouse! We hope to see you at the greenhouse this summer during our public hours: Wednesdays from 12-4 PM and 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 10 AM-2 PM. We can be your tropical summer vacation!

We’re excited to welcome Victoria cruziana back to the greenhouse this summer!

Visitors who remember the old greenhouse may have already noticed the familiar-looking tank recently placed in the corner of the greenhouse classroom. Over the next few weeks, we’ll be preparing it for its newest resident. For those unfamiliar with the plant, Victoria cruziana is one of three species of giant water lilies native to South America. Its enormous leaves can grow between 1–2 meters in diameter and feature distinctive upturned edges lined with sharp spines that help protect the plant from herbivores.

Until we put the finishing touches in place, enjoy these photos from the greenhouse archives from the last time Victoria cruziana was part of our collection.
